Yes it is possible. Do you have any fish in the tank. Eels may eat small fish. You may have luck with a snowflake eel. I had one coexist with fish of all sizes for a few years. If you keep them well fed they should leave your fish alone. However its always possible that of a fish is swimming by and they want a snack that they may grab an early dinner.
I have 2 eels in a 220 gallon reef. Golden Dwarf and Zebra... Golden Dwarf is the most reef safe you can get I believe.... My Zebra is docile, and doesn't eat anything but he raw shrimp.
Yeah it's possible as the above posters have said, just make sure all your fish are bigger than them. I've heard from several people though that they are hard to keep because they are picky eaters and will just starve sometimes.
I think you may want to check for Nitrates and Ammo on a routine. Eels tend to eat a lot of food in return causes a lot of fish (eel) poo. A good skimmer will keep this in check. Just had a friend remove a 16" snowflake eel because he felt this was the reason his levels spiked...HTH FWIW
Eels are very interesting and I have kept many. However they tend to be agressive and most will always eventually crawl out of the tank and die.
With saltwater it seems to me that if you spend enough ($350+) you can get a nice well behaved eel that stays relatively small and is fairly well behaved such as the golden dwarf moray.
