I want something BLUE

Damsels get a bad rap. Dascyllus ad blue devils and such are definitely mean buggers. But Starki, Yellow tail, and Azure damsels are extremely docile. I've had a starki for years, and love this fish. I hear you about life changes, I've lived in more countries than I can count on all my fingers. If I move again domestically, the starki is small enough to come along and tough enough to survive the move. He and my wild Solomon Percula's will always have a home, whether it's my current 180 or a nano if I have to downsize.

I saw a couple of these recently; nice fish, but not nearly so "blue" as that picture portraits - at least not the ones I saw. One was very dark - more like a purple tang.... the other was sort of like a cherub or flameback, without the orange.

Nice fish, just not what I'm looking for - but thanks for the suggestion

Have you seen the Blue Gudgeon Dartfish. Very blue and a docile personality but, perhaps a bit too shy for what you have in mind.

got my starcki. So far it is a total nightmare. If it doesn't calm down the reef will be torn down and he will be removed. This is one of the meanest damsels I have ever seen.

I was considering a Yellow-Tail... but it seems like you guys seem to like the Azure or Starkii better (as far as temperament)?

male and female lyretail anthias (the male is usually the PITA in my tank but he is now missing half of his anal fin), royal gramma (chunk taken out of his head), SA Onyx clown pair, McCosker Flasher wrasse (went to bed early because of the harassment hope he is still alive and in the tank).

I have never seen anything quite like the way this fish "went to work". He even spent about a week in a acclimation container to help with any aggression.

I have a 3" starcki in my 600g tank and he holds his own with some big nasty fish. What Im trying to say is that even though they might be more docile than another damsel they are still a damsel... and every fish is different. Most of these docile damsels do better in a much bigger tank than yours. JMO. I would remove and rehome.

If the aggression doesn't subside I will definitely remove the fish.

as of right now mr dookeyhead has calmed down a bit. Hoping that the aggression subsides as he is in a good home with plenty of food may not be the biggest tank but he will be well taken care of if he decides to stay

another update (as if anyone cares). Mr. Starcki has settled in well. He was a nightmare at first tearing up fins and chasing the other fish everywhere and throwing his weight around.

as of today he generally tolerates all the other fish and hardly ever bothers anyone. Oh and he really likes to eat it seems.

Think I will hold off on that 600 gallon system for the time being

I love my azure for his blue but he WILL pick on smaller fish. The other issue is that they like to use their tail to make a little burrow in the sand

This burrowing behavior bothers me more than the aggression.
