I want to do corals !!!!

Ok so I started my tank. I have a 75 gallon with 2 true percula fish. Its been up and running for 2 weeks and 2 days.

nitrites: 0
Nitrate:0
ammonia : 0

I did one water change today 10 gallons. With RO/DI water.

When am I able to start doing corals ? The fish store told me after I do three - four water changes. Meaning another month or two. Is this correct or is he wrong ?

What chemicals do I have to have to do corals.

Oh and by the way I have no LR. I plan to get about 45lbs in about a month or two.

You need to get live rock in there and cycled for atleast a month before you can even think about coral. I like to buy the half cured stuff because even though you get a huge ammonia spike it acclimates your tank to a tremendous bioload before you add anything. Patience is the key to saltwater.

Might want to find someone to babysit your clowns while you get rock, as most will cause a cycle when put into a tank. If you DO keep the fish in, make sure the rock you get is fully cycled and cured from the stores tubs.

Patience is definately key. Two weeks is a very very very young tank. My first fish didn't go into my tank until almost 5 weeks.

I would wait a few weeks (like, 3-4) AFTER you get the live rock. Your tank will most certainly cycle after you put it in, whether it's fully cured or not.

What are you using for filtration now? You need to start building up the benficial bacteria in your tank.

How long ago did you add the fish to your tank? If it's only been a day or two, your levels will be good, then one night, boom, spike!

Lighting is also very important. What kind of light do you have for the tank? That will determine what kind of coral you can do, when the tank is ready.

Don't rush! The faster you go, the worse it will be. It's hard to look at an empty tank, but if you rush, you'll always look at an empty tank!

i've got the same lighting 4x65 but on a 50 gallon with roughly 100 or more lbs of lr. i have lps and softies in there. they do just fine.
