i want to increase my tanks water volume

i can not get a bigger tank so i want to increase my tanks water volume.
what can i do to increase the volume of water my system holds?
is it possible to use a 50 gallon barrel?
if i use a over flow and have it Drain in the barrel and a pump to pump the water back to the tank. can this work?

ya you can use anything for a sump really.

I have water running from my display tank through our laundry room under the ground then about 50 feet to a shed that I built to hold an 1,100g and several other tanks to increase my water volume. I have tanks running at 5 different levels when it is all said and done. It can be done and pretty much anything is possible. You just have to think it through and plan it.
