I want to rent a PAR meter, southeast Michigan

65g Ritteri Tank
I posted this already in teh lighting/equipment forum but I figure that the SPS forum would have people that have PAR meters as well.

As the title suggests, I'm looking to rent a PAR meter so that I can see if my tank has enough lighting in it. I've thought of buying one, but I'd hate to buy one only to realize that I'm not lacking light. Thanks

I have a similair set up to yours; 40 breeder with 400watt radium, galaxy ballast. I just had my tank read with an Apogee last weekend. Right on the bulb the meter topped out at 2800. 8" to the surface was like 1280, 6" below the surface I believe i was getting into the 800s, and at the bottom was around 250-300. This is an all SPS tank and it seeems to do pretty well.

Hope that helps you.

I just setup a 250 Radium, Lumenmax 2, and Lumatek 250 ballast yesterday on my 40 breeder. I have an apogee, here are some numbers:

10 month old 250 Radium (this bulb has lost about 8% of it's output compared to new, was run on an m80 ballast). Lumenmax 2 is 8.5" above the surface

Center surface- 1300
center 6" below surface-750
front glass center, surface- 950
back glass center, surface- 350 (this is the socket side)
right side center,surface,12" from the bulb 230

You really need 2 bulbs to light up a 3' tank, one bulb is good for a 2' tank.....
