I want to set up a cheap 10g lord feeding tank...advice?

Now that my tank has fully settled down and my corals have survived the crash, I want to get the lords growing faster than they are.

It's tough to feed in the 40 breeder since it's on the floor (no room for the stand in the move down). So, I'm thinking of setting up either a 5.5 gallon, a 10 gallon, or maybe a shallow clear rubbermaid on the kitchen counter so I can feed easily.

How can I do this as cheaply as possible? Just a small powerfilter and a single NO strip light? I have the heater off in the 40 right now due to the heat, so I wouldn't need a heater to start off with...it's about 75-77 in my condo.

The kitchen is open into the living room which has big glass doors leading to the back porch, so it gets lots of daylight.

Thanks in advance for any advice...I don't want to spend anything on this setup, so any help would be welcomed.

Peace,

Chip

Are you planning on keeping them in the feeding tank permanently? What is your plan? If were talking on a short term couple of months thing, I would say at least PC lights, HOB power filter and lots of vaccuming and water changes. Keep an eye on temp though especially with direct dun shining on it.

No, this is a temporary thing.

PC lights? I was thinking a 28-watter, but I hate how yellow the Aqualights are. I want more actinic without having to buy two lights.

Direct sun won't be shining on it. The room gets bright with the large glass doors letting in daylight.

Lots of vaccuming? No, I spot-feed the lords big chunks of mysis.

I priced cheap HOB filters...looks like around $12 for one of those. I have egg-crate already, and can get rubble for the bottom of the tank.

I'm thinking of making it a 5.5 gallon...a 10 is too big.

Thanks for the input.

Peace,
