I would like to manage my tank myself, looking for info

I currently have a 220g in my store that has been maintain by a service for a year or so. Be that it was FOWLR for 6-8 years and I went back and forth between myself and a service maintaining it. We are now doing reef and I'm not comfortable enough to be on my own. Looking for someone local that would be interested in helping. I'm happy to pay for the knowledge, I just want to get to the point where I can do it on my own. Someone to bounce things off of would be great. Would love for that person to have a larger tank like myself to learn from.

I want to do this for a few reasons. I just purchased a smaller bow front for my house as well as another 220g. They are both established but not how I like it. I'd like to do this one on my own. I've also realized my service isn't on my schedule. I'm ready to do things now and they do things at their convenience. Obviously another concern is the money aspect. I believe I'm being way over charged for the work done, especially when it's not on my timeframe.

Thinking of using the smaller bow front for a QT. Since I'll have roughly 500 gallons of tanks running, I want to do my own water, chemicals, etc.

I'm sure this is an odd question but any help is appreciated.

I'm in the Mt Dora, Eustis, Tavares area

what store? I live in the area and always like meeting new reefers! I would be more than happy to take a look. I am running about 300 gallons of reef tank at my house. Im In Howey

Thats good to know. Ill be moving out to Howey at the end of the Month. I love that area. We are moving off of Dixie by the library.

To be honest you can ask any questions here on the board and we can help. I am on the west side of town and have roughly 300 gallons in my system.

I was by the store last week and checked out the tank. didnt know who to ask for so I just browsed around. That tank should not be to hard to maintain at all.

If anyone wants to get together please let me know. My place or yours, doesn't matter to me. I'm just looking to learn about the hobby. I don't mind traveling

I learned most of what i did from this forum, watching others mistakes, and fixed. I also watched alot of youtube. Be careful. Everyone does things their way. Find what best works for you and your fish. I stood behing waterchanges monthly.

Best advice i can give it keep your hands out of it =) That was one thing i learned. Also adjusting and moving stuff. Just let it take it course and watch. Feed properly, water changes, proper lighting and schedule.
