Ian's 400 Gallon Marriage Test

Doing things like you, I be in the dog house chronically for sure (and I don't even have a dog).
Nice job so far.

My wife had been a part of things from the beginning. She even set up her own tank in our bedroom and some nights we just sit and look at stuff on the Web together.
The only thing she raised her eyes at a little was driving to Tampa to get the live sand and rock, but we were going anyway.

How are u liking the iwaki pump seemed a bit loud in the video?

I need to put a piece of neoprene under the wood block that is holding the pump. Most of the sound is vibration coming from that. The pump itself is not that loud.

A lot of the pumps, if you suspended it on a rope instead of put it on a surface it would be much quiter. I did this with my PW pumps and I cannot even tell that it is running unless I touch it and feel the vibration and heat.

Ahhh okay cuz that sound would drive me insane! Have you started your cycle yet?

400 gallons of ocean seawater goes in Friday morning and Sunday I return from Tampa with 400 pounds of live ocean sand and live rock from Tampa Bay Saltwater. My cycle should be short.

Picked up part one of my order from TBSaltwater. Richard was heading to Orlando for Mothers Day so he was nice enough to have my order in his driveway.

I loaded up the truck and I am hitting the road. 4 hour drive home and then time to get the sand in the tank.

We found 2 cucumbers. Both Donkey Dungs but they are black with red tips.

Some corals and what I think is a gulf curly q anemone. It's similar to aiptasia but nowhere near as invasive. It's also really nice looking.

4 boxes down, 5 to go!

This one has a mantis shrimp in it. We saw it when we were inspecting the rocks. I am also pretty sure we saw a really tiny one, so they are in the frag tanks temporarily.

Suspect rocks. Or at least hosting suspect creatures.
TBS_013.jpg

So we found a worm. Tried to get it out but of course it broke. If anyone has any idea as to what it might be...

The life on this rock is amazing! Urchins, sponges... tons of stuff.

A few of the suspects. Plenty of porcelain crabs, snails, cucumbers.

This is absolutely incredible. Richard was really great and made sure I could get my order, even on Mother's Day!

So far I have no problem telling everyone that this is the way to go!

The one worm that you broke, BristleWorm. Glad you had gloves on. They would have stuck you.

Beneficial.

Definitely not a bristle worm.
This one had tail flukes similar to a shrimp tail. I wish I had my macro lens on the camera when I had it out. It was something not good... that much I know.

Well. I hope not! I am sure that one is still alive. Most of the bad worms tend to be segmented and pulling one apart is not going to kill it. Unfortunately.

So. I got the second part of my TBSaltwater package delivered yesterday.

I did a live unboxing on Google Hangouts (I used the internal mic so the sound quality is terrible... sorry).
