Ice and BTA foot? Feels more like freezing it

I tried this the other day on a bta I was going to give to a friend and it felt like the base was turning into ice since it felt hard. Is this really ok method to use to remove the bta? I did this for about 10mins or so, than stopped beacuse I was scared it kill it. And in the end left it in my tank. and it opened back up. By the way the bta was stuck to a rock which I could not remove so I just took a big chunk of ice and touched its base and it turned hard.

Try aiming a power head at it or turn off the lights for a day. I turned off the lights for a day with my atlantic sun anemone and it went nuts. Started crawling around the tank not really stuck to anything, so it was really easy to remove it.
