ok so im almost done with my canopy and i got my new uvl aquasun bulb today and it works fine....thing is that hooking up 4 bulbs to the ballest doesnt work....it works fine with 3 bulb hook up,when i hook it up for for 4 bulbs it just flickers on and off quickly....any ideas from ya guys on this? all the bulbs work fine....its wired correctly and they are alll t5 48" bulbs so im at a loss as to what the problem is

Best I can say is to redo your wires to make sure they are 100% correct. if it lights on 3 and not 4, I would tripple check your wires. you may have a polarity issue on one.

Ice Cap 660s will run only 3 T-5 bulbs properly (the 440 will run 2). It is designed as a VHO ballast. Check the Ice Cap forum there is a fairly long thread on how the 660 is actually quite hard on T-5 bulbs less than 60"

nice read though even if it lessens the age of the bulb and al my bulbs are fine and if the wiring is fine then the 4 bulbs should light

guys ive found out the problem....sort of...its either the purple wiring in the harness or the ballests purple hook ups....how can i check the ballest out though?

if i have to send the ice cap off it'll cost me 75 bucks atleast, money i really dont have....might as well buy another used one for that much

here is how its hooked up exactly....is there another way to do 4x48 t5s?

i guess if i cant fix it cause of the money itll cost, ill just have to use it as a 3 bulb ballast which sucks because its ment for 4 at most and i paid 80 bucks for it :(

guess ill just use it with 3 bulbs right now til i can fix it...maybe by xmas....should be running with like 240 watts or so.....that should be on to hold a gsp frag?
