I've read and heard a lot that dipping a smooth skin acro is a bad idea, and usually results in the skin melting away. I use revive as a dip, would it be better on this type of acro to inspect it and not dip? I know it brings a chance of a pest, it's also coming from a good place, i've never had any pests after dipping corals from them before.

I always dip. With SPSs I read quick dip is best - 1-2 minutes, don't do the 15 minute per instruction on the bottle.

I usually always do as well, but this is one that i do not want to lose, as it's one of my favorites and i've been looking to get it for a while now. Anyone have any issues dipping echinata's?

I would get some Bayer, mix 5 to 10 ml in 500 ml of tank water and dip in that. Revive is harsh on that type of coral and a quick dip is not going to reliably knock off and or kill the pests you are dipping for.

I dip with Bayer at a strength of 20ml to 250 ml tank water for 10 minutes. I also nasty the coral throughout the time it's in the dip. Then it gets 2 ten minute tank water rinses. I always remove the coral from the plug before hand also.

I have used Bayer on some smooth skinned Acros and have had no issues with sloughing skin.

I dipped plenty enchinata in lugol iodine. 5min dips. No problem

I had a red dragon frag completely bleach out from a 10 minute Bayer dip, I did 10 ml in 250 ml of tank water. It has recovered for the most part now. It did not loose any tissue though.

Ive dipped hawkins in 45ml of bayer and 300ml of tank water for 12 minutes once per week for 6 weeks and saw no ill effects.

I lost a Hawkings and a Red Dragon due to a Coral RX dip which I'm told is very much like what you are using. I don't recommend not dipping, but I do think Bayer is a better option for smooth skinned acros.

I've dipped a few echinata frags over the past couple years in Bayer without problem. Bayer is my go to dip with sps
