can i run 4- 36" bulbs (30 watt bulbs) with an icecap 660 ballast or will it mess up the bulbs. i am switching from a reef tank to a freshwater with artificial plants so i don't need or want the high light output due to energy and algea concerns.

thanks, justin

i checked out the website but didn't find anything. maybe i am not looking in the right place. any other opinions would be appreciated.
thanks, justin

its fine for the bulbs buts that is still going to be a lot of light for a FW no plants Tank.

the 660 will overdrive the 30 watt lamps a good bit. 1 lamp overdriving with a 660 should be a lot for a no plant FW tank. 4 is to much IMO you'll have algae issue.

Hey Justin I will try to find that info for you on this. I'll do a little searchin' around later on this evening.

Justin, I can't access that page as Icecap is redoing their website. I do recall it drove the lamps at a higher wattage with no ill effects. The bulbs ran at about twice the output. The person who compiled these tests put a lot of time into the project I can tell you that much.
