IceCap 660 wiring...

Got my new IceCap retro kit in the mail, hooked it up, and nothing. After a couple of hours of trouble shooting, I finally noticed that a the yellow and red wires were swapped on one of the harness plugs...

Me being the awesome guy I am, I decided to try and fix it myself. So yeah, it's really broke now. Anyone know if you can buy these little tiny metal pieces that go over the ends of the wire, then plug into the plastic thingy? Or have an extra one laying around they wanna sell, before I go buy a new one? lol

Here's the one I broke:

I broke the female end that plugs into the wiring harness on the retro kit, not the male end that plugs into the the IceCap itself.

Thanks guys/gals!

Radio Shack would be my suggestion, take the harness with you and they can probably get you what you need.

You might be able to extract the pin, solder it back on the wire, and jam it back in. I've done this numerous times with MOLEX plugs in computers.

If you actually busted the pin itself (I can't tell from the pic), frozencpu.com carries lots of different MOLEX and power connector pins, one of them might work for you if radioshack doesn't have it.

Nice! That's exactly what I did!

The red and yellow wires were crossed in the female MOLEX, so I attempted to pop them out and swap them around... I ended up breaking one pin in half. I'll go by radio shack today and see what the have. ...sounds much better than I broke the one thingy in that thing when I was trying to fix the little dealy.

Thank you!

At least you didn't have to resort to the whatchamacallit...

ran all around town today and couldn't find the exact pins or MOLEX's, so I just stopped by aquariums and bought a new one. .

...now the wiring problem is fixed, I think, but the lights won't stay on. They will flash on, then turn off. Ideas? I've checked all the lights, they are all seated well, and they all flash on, sometimes.

You may want to drop a note in the IceCap specific forum. Those guys are pretty good about answering the technical questions.

I will be wiring my retro kit here shortly and am reading as many posts as I find.

Thanks for the input y'all!

I found another wiring mistake on the pre-wired retro kit, thanks to the wiring guide George found for me. Fixed it, but still no go. I think by this point I've probably burnt up the ballast. Gonna pack it up and send it in, hopefully it won't take too long, but with the holidays this is crappy timing...

Gonna go invest in an OHM meter or continuity tester so hopefully this problem won't be repeated! I guess we learn from our mistakes! hehe
