I have seen several posts where somone is selling their icecap 660-009 ballast with heatsink. Do I need to have a heatsink when using these ballasts? I am currently getting ready to wire my T5's but am curious about the heatsink issue. Do I need one? Will it help the ballast run cooler?

i run my 660 with VHO's and it doesnt get hot on the shelf. it does get a little warm, but no where near hot.

thats with VHO's, so i wouldnt know about T-5's

When I had a 660 it never got to warm, but if you are concerned and availability of the specific heat sink is an issue a PC fan would work just as good if not better.
