Icecap bulbs- Par info

Did you ever get the info the new Icecap bulbs?
And are they OK for M80 HQI ballast?
Are helios?

I'm not sure on the Par, but I heard they got decent reviews from Sanjay?

We have some running at the shop. I can tell you far as looks goes, there 20K is excellent. It's the brightest 20K's I've seen.

At least by just going by human eyes.

Yes, they will run fine on HQI.

From what I have seen so far, they are not that great and I have tried 10K, 14K and 20K. The 20K looks more like a bright 12K, the other two more like a Iwasaki 6500.

Just to make sure.. You are running Icecap 20k 250w SE's on M80 ballast (mag,hqi) ??

I wouldnt run any 250 watt SE bulb that is probe-start on a HQI ballast unless you want a shorter life for the bulb. Those Helios are not HQI rated.

The only HQI SE bulbs in 250 are the Radium, Ushio/BLV nepturion 10-14-20,000K (non-CWA models), Aquaconnect, and Giesemanns. The other SE bulbs are not HQI rated, and so the best you can do for them is an electronic ballast with rare exceptions.

All DE 250's are HQI though...

Thanks, Hahmeister!! I ordered , dang it.. ordered 2 20k helios yesterday : ( but I ordered 2 20k BLV also..
Some of the other guys in Richmond reef club may like them.. Right now, (for the last 2 weeks) I have been testing aquaconnect14 and XM20k. The xm looks almost 15K (great color) ---because it is not made to run on HQI?
