I think i may be getting god damn ich again for the second time. NOT HAPPY. i noticed a couple white spots on my Atlantic Blue Tang, there is maybe 5 or so, and he wont sit still long enough for me to determine whether it is ich or not. i just ordered some kick ich, hopefully this helps, if it doesnt and my fish die i will be leaving this hobby, i can't afford to keep redoing my tank due to ich. very frustrating, all the work i put in to keep my water parameters good is not going so well for me. all my levels that are supposed to be zeros are at zero amm, trite, trate, phos my ph is 8.2-8.4, temp 77-79, calcium is 400-420. i just dont know what else to do.

Did you do a full quarantine of 30 days? Ick may seem gone lots of time but may not be. The only way to make sure is to keep the fish isolated in a bare tank and watch what happens. If ick appears you treat for at least 30 days, don't do like a lot of people do, they treat until the fish clears up then pop then back in the main display. 30 days no less and longer if you see spots. If you still see spots and are certain it's ick your treatement is not being followed through. Hypo, copper whatever your useing needs to be done properly. It's not a hard parasite to get rid of, but does require dedication.

i do not have a QT set up, i have a spare 55 gallon and a 20 long that i could use but i have no filtration or lights for them so by the time i get the stuff i need to set it up plus cycle time it would not be very effective im affraid

Kicking Ick...

Kicking Ick...

I can tell you that I have had ick several times in younger tanks and very expensive fish lost.... I have found that if the tank is over 18 months old than it is less likley if you have time for it to mature on your side... I recently had signs of ick and I keep fresh garlic on hand... I use 6 or so whole cloves pealed and placed in the sump where there is high water flow and this does the trick within 48 hours if you start it at first sight.... Try it... I have done this several times and it has never failed for me... i use to buy all those ick treatments and wasted hundreds of dollar them and fish until i tried this... I know that you can soak there food in some garlic produce and this helps also... Good luck:D

ok how do you determine where a high flow area in the sump is? and what do you put the garlic in? i will go get some fresh cloves tomorrow and start this right away, but is that all you do or do you do the soaked food thing too? also how long do you keep the garlic in the sump? do you use 6 cloves all at one?
