ich and mandarins

Hi first post here and quick question, I know mandarins are resistant to ich, but will they still allow it to continue its life cycle? ie, i have a tank showing signs of ich and the population includes a mandarin. If i move all the fish except for the mandarin to hospital tank for treatment will the ich in the dt die off? Or do i need to move the mandarin as well? Reason is my mandarin is finicky about frozen foods and there are plenty of pods for him in the DT. If i can I would prefer to leave him in the DT for the 8 weeks required to get rid of the ich.
