Ich back again

Hi Guys-

About two months ago, my Achilles tang and aussie tusk were covered in salt like material. I used cupramine, and within a few days it was gone, and kept the cupramine at a .5 level for 35 days in my display tank.

I do not have any sand, and hardly any live rock, so my levels were not absorbed and stayed steady, via seachem test every 3rd day.

Its been 3 weeks since I have removed copper via carbon and water changes. Well low and behold last night, by Achilles, tusk, and emperor angel were covered in white spots again.

I put the first .25 cupramine last night upon seeing it, and it already looks to be helping.

My question is, since I added no new fish since the last copper treatment, I for sure thought 35 days would have been enough to eradicate them?

Could it be I just killed that batch of ich, but it is always being carried on the fish, just a matter of when it strikes?

I'm sure you read all the stickies on crypto. Since you are treating the main you are not allowing for the tomonts to hatch. This can take up to 72 days which is why it is recommended to leave the tank fallow for 9-12 weeks.

This. Tomonts are unaffected by copper, hyposalinity, and probably even CP. Tomites are, but they have to be released first. That is why treatment in a hospital tank is best.
