orthokardia

are any meds "worth it" for a reef tank. i got an ich explosion from a powder brown that went south. Any meds safe for the reef? my temp has been stable, my params are good, and the corals look good. i am feeding with reef plus and garlic.

:(bart

herbtana is the only one tht is reef safe and had good results. It does not harm your tank like other meds do.

Personally I haven't had much luck with any Reef safe meds, however I was talking to Andy the other day & that subject came up. I can't remember what he said the name was but he has used something before. He should be along shortly but if not shoot him a PM. Most of the reefsafe cures would get really pricey treating your volume of water.

No Meds are needed, Try Chopped fresh garlic they sell In the Supermarket. Take a spoon and get the pure garlic juice fron the jar and soak all food and add It directly to the tank at least once a day. You can also buy Garlic guard sold In the LFS but I have found the fresh works better, I had a Tang covered In Ich and In two Day's It was gone using this method. You can also feed them the chunks of garlic as long as you squish them so they are not to big for your fish, They love It!

I don't know If the fish like Italian, But I do LOL Seriously the garlic works! I added It to the tank twice a day about a TSP at a time plus soaked all their food.

I second Bill on garlic!!!! They really do work!!! Unless the fish is just too far gone, best to just let it pass cause it'll take all the ich along with it. I bought a sickly powder brown and I tried and tried....It was in very bad shape when I brought it home and it just couldn't get better and it made all my fish sick with ich. When it died, so did ich.....All my fish are healthy afterward....But I kept feeding garlic to boost their immune system....

Garlic works well, also if you have any omega-3 like Selcon or Zoecon, those work great too

Try soaking Hikari Marine -S pellets, they can soak up a lot of liquid and still stay intact.

still feeding garlic and soaking food in it. fish still have ich and i stink.

thanks for the info and i will keep at it until the fish or the ich are out of there

or try the herbtana as I suggested...my experience with garlic is it is more a peventative than a cure, and mat work for mild cases. if 1 thing isn't working then try the next imo. :)

Up the doses and try a Mfg Medication If you have not seen any Improvement! If they are too far gone no cure may work.
