hello, i had ich in my tank and put all the fish in quarentine (almost completely cycled and all fish are happy and eating well). the QT has some live rock, proteing skimmer, HOB filter and some PVC pipes as well... i am noticing the two Hippo tangs (blue regal) are starting to show signs of ick again and scratching occasionally. none of the other tangs or fish are showing sings yet (tank has been fallow for three weeks and will remain so until treatment ends). My question is can i do Hyposalinity on the QT with the live rock, skimmer etc) or will the bacteria die off and force me to do water changes every two days to combat ammonia???... Also how will the PH be affected in the QT when i start doing hypo will i have to use some sort of buffer???

I'd start a new thread ASAP ; you'll get a lot more help. New threads get a lot more attention and you need it. A QT is no place for LR and a skimmer won't work under hypo conditions. There really is no need to use a skimmer in a QT (IMO). Won't hurt anything, though. Get a lot of water ready, you'll probably be doing a lot of WCs. There are ways of avoiding ammonia in a QT, but you have to start the process weeks in advance. If your DT has some floss, sponge, filter pad, etc., you may be able to cycle the QT using a HOB filter.

the QT is already up and running and cycled with live rock, the HOB has bio balls with bacteria and i already have the skimmer up and running... all these things i already had up and running so i was just wondering how it would affect when doing HYPO...
