Ich On My Tomini Tang

Ok... I have a yellow tang that had some ICH on him and he got better and my LFS had a NICE Tomini Tang pretty cheap, so I got it and it did VERY well the 1st 2-3 days! TODAY ( Monday ) he did NOT come out AT ALL! I was able to see him well enough to know that he has ICH! I started using garlic and also fed with a food that has garlic in it... I THINK he might have eaten a few bites... but has hid all day today! I also have a U/V on the system! Is he going to die... or does he just feel poopy and if I keep things going well, will he get to feeling better and come back out agan? I am really worried as I really LOVE this fish as you all can tell! Does ANYONE have some ideas on what I can do to make him feel better and start eating and come back out and be active again?

Take that tomini tang and put it in a QT tank and lower the salinity down to 1.09. This is called hyposalinity which will help the fish recover.I would also reccommend you also remove all your fish out and leave it fallow for 6 weeks for ich to die off. While in the QT keep feeding the fish with vitamin enriched food to help it recover. And keep the QT with the same water from your tank with heater, and filter. Watch the ammonia levels too.

I would feel a lot better about giving advice if you could tell me your current water parameters. This has a lot to do with whats going on with your fish.

Salinity
Water Temp
Calcium
Alkalinity
What kind of top off water

I think water chemistry may be the issue here.

Here is what I would do... I'd just make sure he's eatting well, and if so feed him a lot of mysis and veggie flake soaked in selcon! I think that will help with getting rid of it pretty quick!

I'm sorry and don't want to sound harsh but this is bad advice....it will result in little to no changes and your system will continue to cycle with Ich (goes away and comes back) as long as you have fish in the tank and do not treat properly.

Read my post from here to get your Tang back on track:
