i have a 40 gallon reef tank...i have a gold stripped maroon, small but fat sailfin tang..3 chromis, six line wrasse, mandarin goby and a cleaner shrimp..my question is regarding ich..i know it is present in my tank, but the only fish that ever shows signs of it is my sailfin...he seems happy and has a good appetite,so its deffinatly not from stress...i bought a uv sterilizer as well, which seemed to kill some of the free floating ich....my main question is, well the tang produce more ich in the tank, due to them feeding on him and reproducing? should i get rid of the tang asap,or will he fight it off in time...im not concerned with small amounts of ich present,as my other fish never get it,i just dont want the ich to spread and possibly take over, hence the uv sterilizer...

inorder to remove the ick from your tank you have to remove ALL the fish from the tank. this will not allow the ick to "reproduce. if you do this put all your fish in a Qt tank and treat with copper or hyposalinity...

i realize this is the only way to kill ich completly.....i hate this method, and ich always comes back at some point.even after doing this....ich is not present in my tank, until i get a tang....ich will never show up on my other fish....ever...it only goes after the tang...so if i remove the tang,im assuming the ich will not reproduce as much...
