Ich question

Well I have gone through and read a bunch about Ich. I have been reefing for a very long time at this point and I am familiar with all of the different ways people deal with ich.

I am currently setting up a new system and adding creatures from the great unknown. I have come to terms with the fact that they will be carrying Ich. My question is that once you have ich in your display tank, does it make sense to QT the fish to let the ich go through its life-cycle, even if you plan on adding more coral and fish.

Currently have a cleaner wrasse and two clowns. They are showing no visible signs of ich at this moment, but I know it is in my display tank.. It always is when adding new livestock.

My current plan of action is to finish stocking my tank slowly over next year. Once I am happy with the amount of fish, I will move them slowly over to a QT tank that I will dose with copper for the 11 weeks.

When you dip corals does it kill the ich, even if it is in the "bubble" cyst stage?

Dip corals won't prevent ich. I just got it in my system cause I added a few frags to my system. Fishes up until then head 0 signs off ich for over 2.5 years. If you can quarantine the corals for a month.

Ich cysts will only be present on frag plugs and rock/rubble the coral arrives on. Break off the plug or rock/rubble and you will avoid introducing the ich into the DT. If ich is already present in the DT then going fallow is the only way to kill it off

Agreed. I also do 72 days of QT. I have OCD and I don't want my hard work to go down the drain.
