ID Anemone

Hello All,
I went by the LFS yesterday and picked up an anemone, wanted to get a fairly cheap one as this is my first go at it. he seems to really be doing well and already ate a krill this morning on his second day in the tank. Anyway, just wondering what kind it is, was sold as an "atlantic anemone" but I don't really see much info on those. I got the one with the darkest coloration although smaller than some of the others, they looked very very white (may be normal). Anyway, thanks in advance for your help.

It looks like a Condylactis gigantea.

Looks like a condy to me also. They are from the Atlantic region so maybe that's why the LFS had it labeled as such. I read that off the card our store had that has the same looking condys in their tank

Thanks for the info, it's my first try at an anemone, I want to get something soon that can host a clown or two, I really like the carpets but I don't have high power lights so I'll have to figure out something for light.

For clowns - i would start with a BTA as they usually don't require as strong of light.

condys will host your clowns. They must be large enough that the condy doesnt think they are food.

My adult clowns host my condy... ill post pics if i can

It is not a guarantee that your clowns will be hosted by the Condy. There is also a risk that it could eat your clowns.

Thanks for all of the replies, he moved last night and found a nice little hole to plant his foot, looks even fuller and darker today than yesterday, he ate a whole krill yesterday, I plan on feeding him again tomorrow maybe some squid. Anyway here's a pic today, guess he's looking healthy:

They EAT and EAT and EAT then they crap. Its insane. My condy has like 12 inch tentacles now. Im thinking about fragging it after my BTA gets settle in.

Woke up this morning to kind of a frightening sight:

It looks to me like maybe it has expelled all of it's waste and will hopefully be re-filling shortly. It isn't falling apart or anything, still looks good, fully attached etc. Should I worry? Clearly this is my first Nem so I am a bit gunshy I suppose.

No don't worry. It will withdraw somewhat every night. Perfectly normal.

Thanks, as I was leaving for work it was already starting to get more full, this morning it looked like a collection of dried up worms (like you see on your driveway after a rain) wild, he ate another Krill last night and seems to be otherwise healthy.

Well look who's back:

If it hadn't been for this site, I probably would have scraped him off of the rock and flushed him this morning...Looking bigger than ever right now and his tips are getting a nice purple tint to them. Thanks again for all the replies
