ID between Strombus alatus and Strombus gigas?

Hello. Does anyone here have a working knowledge of the physical difference between the Florida Fighting Conch and the Queen Conch in the juvenile stage. Are there certain indications that would enable someone to ID them from appearance of the shell?

Thanks.

The color thing is usually the best indication, but not always so it's best to look at a couple of characteristics. Generally, S. alatus has a shorter spire compared to the body whorl, whereas in S. gigas the spire is longer and the whorls are spaced farther apart and more defined. You would have to look at pictures of the two to familiarize yourself with the differences, but they aren't that hard to tell apart once you know what to look for.
