Hi :)

I just watched my mantis grab an isopod off the rocks, and watched him hunt, awesome to watch, it just finished molting and is really active now, I'm still having a hard time IDing him/her, not sure if this shot is good enough..

Thanks!

ok one last pic :)
i'm guessing G. Viridis based on the slight red and tiny white dots in this shot:

From what i can see it does appear to be a G. viridis. It has the fine white flecks on the body and from the last photo is appears to have fleshy coloured merals with red periphery.

Congratulations. You have a hardy, active smasher, one which doesn't get to big (50-60mm), loves rocks and sand, and isn't to picky with their food.

Have fun

Thanks caynus!
it's definately very active, alternating between the two homes it made, hunting isopods, digging in the sand and happily eating the mysis I offered..

When and if you can miztic you should give us some more pics so we can see it out and about.
cheers

I definately plan to post more pictures, its being sneaky tho and only coming far enough out of the rocks to grab a pod, hopefully it'll get a little bit bolder so I can get some good shots..

It's in a 20 Long tank, 30x12x12, it's spent the afternoon roaming from one end to the other, Dr. Roy's page on the Viridis says ~5Gal, I think thats really the bare minimum after seeing how much space my little guy covered today.. he's got 3 areas spread all over the tank where he hangs out now..
