hey all, I'm doing maintenance on a tank that has a very nice moray in it, healthy and very accustomed to tank life.

I did a lot of research and still couldnt figure out what exact species he is, can anyone help me out?

If the mouth is white on the inside and the tip of the tail is white, it's likely Gymnothorax meleagris.

unarce is right - but if those spots (and tip of tail) are gold not white, then it is a gymnothorax miliaris.

either way, both are very nice eels.

its a great eel, eats like a champ and has beautiful coloration

does it have any common names? I havent seen it on any websights or listings anywhere, so I dont even know how much it is worth.

sounds about right, Its a little hard to come by,

As I said, this is in a tank that I do maintenance for, and I have convinced the owner to take the tank reef, so I believe we will be taking it out so that we can put in some smaller reef fish and corals, etc..

Anyone in need of a nice eel?
