most don't have a name and are better off not having names other than for ID purposes...unless you're a capitalist pig and plan on gouging people, or you're a marketers dream, or you just want a name for them to keep them separate from others.

Did it every occur to you guys that naming them has a functional purpose? Anyone who is a collector of anything has to have some way of ID'ing items. Not everyone who makes an attempt to follow any kind of a naming convention is doing so for money making purposes. Some of the best traders I know use names so we all know what we're trading, and there is no money involved.

ill post more pics as soon as i get off work and head back home. If you look at that other colony in the first pic, I also got that one for $12 as well. It has a lot of light blue with yellow skirts and some reds as well. haha to me the colors are their names. So i will post more pics later on tonight. thanks for the replies everyone!!!

By the way, if i wanted to isolate the different types, so that i can have a colony of one type of polyp on each rock. how would I go about doing that? What would be the easiest way to frag an individual polyp to place on a separate rock?

thank you
ramon

If you can break the rock at the point where you want to seperate do that. Otherwise you probably need to break out the razor blade or dremel and go to work. Its a good idea to seperate them as the dominant colony will eventually kill the other morph.

Nice Zoas....Where are you buying them? I live in socal also...

its from this lfs in placentia called Fish Collection. They dont really have alot of "fish" collection but they do have many tanks filled with coral. Sometimes they have tanks where everything in it is 5.00 or whatever. So when i went there, they had 2 tanks one for 12.00 and one for 14.00. These items are mostly zoa frags, gsp, shrooms, and leathers.

Hey impur,
the rock with the different varieties is very dense. I may have to break the rock and start razoring away. You can call me razor ramon now. I really wanted to grow the reds by themselves. Theres about 6-10 polyps of those. Ill let you know how it goes!!

here are some more pics of those greens you wanted along with others i just wanted to share. got kinda camera happy so might as well share...
