I'd like to see my goby and shrimp

Well at first I was excited at how quickly my ywg and tiger pistol got together, but now it's no good. When they met they dug a nice cave in the corner and I saw them working all day. They have since moved under a rock and it's been a long time since I have seen either creature. Goby doesn't even come out at all. I out the rock in before the sand so I know it hasnt shifted and smashed them. I watch for them especially at feeding but nothing. Any ideas on how to get them to come out more? Will they just live a nice life under the rock and that's it? Lmk thanks

Most likely you aren't going to see them for a while. I got a Yasha & a tiger pistol that paired up very quickly. If it wasn't for a power outage & an 11 pm trip to the office w/ a temporary pump & a flashlight, I wouldn't have seen them for 2 weeks. :)

They should be fine & are still getting settled in. I wouldn't worry about it. There still is an occasional day here & there that I won't see my pair at all.

like Fish Biscuit said.. they are adjusting.. give them time ;)
my goby buried himself under the rock for 5 days before he came out lol
same goes for most reefers..
Enjoy them!!!! :bounce3:

Awesome Video!! Seems like the shrimp had NO idea he wasn't under a rock!! :lmao:
So darn Cute!!! I now have decided because of your video that I am going to do a tank dedicated to this pair!! I've been thinking on it for months.. but after seeing that.. I must have !!! :lol2:

Awesome vid! My goby shrimp pair is one of my favorite things in my tank.

I hardly ever see my pair in my 75g. It's usually an hour or two after the lights go off that I even see the tiger pistol, but I know he's alive because something is always changing with the sand and I hear the occasional "gun shot" from him. As for the Goby he hangs out usually on the backside of the rockwork. In my 44g I see my pair all the time, but that's because of the way I designed the aquascape so he travels in the cave and within the holes of the totoka rock.

^yeah maybe I just don't have it scaped for seeing them. It is ok though, I would rather they thrive and be comfortable I suppose.

They live under that flower looking structure to the left of the tank:

I decided against getting a pistol for the very reason that many don't ever see them again! BTW TaNuki, very nice tank!

^Thanks. I guess one day I will see him. I hope he is alive still. I have yet to hear him snap his claw either.

My LFS told me that you could bury a piece of PVC (or dig a hole) in the area you want them to be (in the front where you can see them) and then release them into the tank near the PVC. Basically, provide them with the shelter they need. I don't know if it would work after they've been in the tank for a while, but when you do eventually see them, maybe you could play around with that (?)
