this sat in our LFS for at least 2 months, it was brown with the bright green eyes. finally got someone to split it with me, and now in my tank it's turning blueish-green with the same bright green eyes. now i wish i had gotten the whole thing myself.

Definitely no pro, but maybe some sort of Acan (almost echinata like, but...) or maybe a Diploastrea(sp?)?

i have another piece that was sold to me as a diplostrea (and seemed to check-out against pics in books) and it is rougly similar, but different enough that i don't think it's the same.

I have a Diploastrea heliopora, and that is not it.

Here are some images. Pay close attention to the closeup. You will note that it is quite different and distinctive in this species. I would have to say some sort of Acanthastrea or other Mussid.

I rescind my previous decision after actually looking at my Diplostrea that's 4 feet away. It kinda looks like some kind of Micromussa or some other mussid.

I would say that it's not an echinata, although it could be a subechinata. Whatever it is, very nice coral.
