This has grown on my one of my rocks, and I'm not sure what it is. It is brown and about 1.5" in diameter. It's not very fast-growing, but I'm still concerned, since I don't know what it is. Any help?

Its a form of algae. I have seen it called brown waffle algae. I do not have any specifics on it as I have not encountered it myself.

Yup, Lobophora, or scroll algae. I had an issue with it in an old tank. It doesn't grow fast, but it will start to encrust your rock. If it's easy to reach, I'd get rid of it.

When I had it, hermit crabs would sometimes take a chunck out here and there, but they never did much damage. My foxface never even looked at it.

It's an algae, just take it off because it will start encrusting. It pretty much like the same thing you see at boat docks.

Man, that stuff isn't as easy to get off as I thought it would be. Any ideas of how to get this stuff off without pulling the rock out of the tank and scrubbing it?

I peeled what I could off a few weeks ago, but it came back. But, I just got a couple of emeralds, and they're tearing it up pretty good. Maybe they can get some cleanup done before Timmy finds them.
