ID Please

I have seen a few of them that light in color, but with good feeding it should darken up a little more.

cinnamon is what i thought.. the female is big about 4" or so, do you reckon given the right enviroment she'd be ready to spawn?

The malu is light in colour (tan) but not white, was open fully in the shop, tightly closed mouth. Yesterday in my tank it took hold on rock, got up this morning, still on rock, just got back from work no and it's on the sand bed but not attached, the cinnamon female is keeping it from floating about.

Mouth is still shut.

Is tan a natural colour for them? Just wondering if it'll change colour.

Cheers

Yes, Tan is a natural color for a Sebae Malu. Because it is not bleached white and the tentacles do not appear to have any transparency to them from the photos. You got yourself a nice healthy specimen.

Thankyou very much.. the cinnamon pair / malu are in a tank to themselves, hoping they will start spawning. The female is a bit over 4.5", they've only been in the tank 24hrs and she's currently kicking up a sand storm.

They went straight into the anemone before it could even attached.. basically as I was lowering it in she was trying to get it lol

I could be wrong, but I am not seeing an H. Malu in that anemone, it looks more like a bleached LTA (( M. doreensis )). What does the underside of the oral disc/foot look like? Is it smooth or bumpy?

Either way I would keep an eye on it -- those clowns are quite large compared to the anemone.

BTW -- this is what is making me lean towards LTA -- this is one that I had years ago, was pretty bleached at first, and looks pretty similar to the OP's

Underside is same colour pretty much as the body and is completely smooth

Definately does not have the veruccae (sp?) of an LTA.

Also the pic was taken shortly after it went into my tank. It was about 8" in the store.

Okay, then I was leaning the wrong way.

However, I would still keep a close eye on it -- those clowns are pretty big.

I will certainly keep an eye on her, the male is small though and barely gets in the anemone anyway because of her lol.

She doesn't appear rough with it right now.
