Having a tough time with ID's on these

Your help would be appreciated Grant

It does have some of the colors but I have pearlberry and this ones form is completely differant. If it helps it was sold to me as a wintergreen stag and looked like it when I got it but has since morphed to these colors.

These semi-stag type acros are very hard to ID IMO....to many similar species.

I have to agree, this was a tough one. For this one

This is what I came up with.
A. formosa

Comparing yours with this species makes more sense when you focus on only one branch and look at the coralite detail. For the sake of comparison here is a side by side.

Let me know what you think.
I hope this helps.

With the first coral can you post a pic that shows the tip and the coralites clearer? Dispite the pic you posted being a good one, I cant seem to see the coralites clearly. I have an idea as to what it might be, but a clear pic would make it easier for me to be sure. Thanks.

Joe,
I doubt that the second coral is an A. formosa. The spacing on the radial corallites looks quite different to me.
I think it looks more like A. insignis.

I'm not ruling out insignis, ( and to be honest it was my first choice too.) however, the radial coralites seemed inconsistent with the OP's specimen. ( not quite the right shape/ spacing seemed too far apart, JMO) here's a comparison...And also what Vernon says about the color of insignis
"Color: White branches with contrastingly coloured radial corallites. This colour pattern is useful for identification." and although the OP's coral has branches that are lighter in color than the coralites they does not seem to match Vernons description.
A. formosa again...

And now the OP's coral...

And now insignis...

You guys see my issue lol. The first one as I said before was sold as Wintergreen stag but I have never seen this color morph before. It does however have the Shape and corallite structure thou. The second 1 I thought might be aqua delight but structure is wrong, I received it at the BAR swap a couple of months ago and it was pretty beat looking but I was able to bring it back from the brink ;) and it is turning into a nice little piece. I have a lot of very intensely colored corals and I like the almost pastel coloration and form this one has.

Ah yes, the fun that is ID'ing Acropora!
I think once it grows out some more and takes the shape of the colony we will have a better chance of identifying it.
The first one looks especially tricky given the irregular corallite structure.

Like Joe said, a closer image of the first coral- with more detail on the corallites may help in the search.

It is interesting that you mention this, as I got a frag at the 08' BACFM from Tyree that he was calling an "Aqua Delight Stag" ( at the time I was on the Hunt for G Hillers Aqua Delight so I bought a frag) it has grown into what looks like your coral ( same colors, growth) in the second pic, but mine has definitely taken a stag growth form. Just wanted to add this piece to your puzzle in hopes this helps things...

Can you get a pic of the first coral with emphasis on just one branch? that way we will have coralite shape, and density, plus a better look at what the tip of the coral looks like...that would definitely help the search.....
