flat worms
most (if not all) are pretty toxic when you kill them. Siphon out as many as you can...and determine what kind you have (planaria for example) to determine the next step

spieszak nailed it. Flat worms. They can reach plague proportions, but not always. Nutrient control helps keep the population down. If they reach nuisance proportions, siphon as many as you can, nuke the rest with Flatworm Exit (from Salifert), followed with large water changes and a large load of fresh carbon to remove the toxins released by the death of the flatworms.

I think these are Alcoa flatworms and Flatworm Exit works but you need a couple of treatments. I have a bunch in a tank with no animals and no feedings. Where they are getting their nutrients, I have no idea. They seem to come in waves.

This part "followed with large water changes and a large load of fresh carbon to remove the toxins released by the death of the flatworms" from above is REALLY important if your going to use flatworm exit. I think your skimmer off too, but I don't quite remember.. I'd do a search for using it before using it so you know what to expect.

What I didn't' know is if flatworm exit works for all "types"... Can you/someone confirm that?

As far as I know.

Acoel ;)

They are believed to be somewhat photosythetic as well, so even if there is nothing for them to feed on they can feed on the light.

I had these in my tank but my nudibranch hitchhikers have been eating them :rolleye1:

you're definitely better getting the exit than the 6-line imo. 6-lines can become major bullies and won't always eat these.
