Hi, this guys are at my LFS, they call them Yellow frogfish and Cocatoo Waspfish. I've put both of them on hold there and would like to know more about them. If one of the mods could rescale the pic would be great.Thank u.

I can't see the esca (lure) on the angler, but it's either Antennarius striatus or A. hispidus. If it looks like a worm, it the former, and if it looks like a cotton ball, it's the latter.

As for the other fish, it's not even close to being a waspfish...it looks like Scorpaena brasiliensis (red barbfish) from what I can see of it.

That's an angler, not sure which.

The other is an orange toadfish, Opsanus beta, no doubt, I kept one for years. They get big and are very aggressive.

I'd be surprised if one doesn't eat the other

I stand corrected...I do see the "toadie" now...it helps if you "side scroll" the pic...all I saw was like half of a fish's face, and i thought that's where the pic ended. *blush*

Thanks Jarrod!

No worries Greg! I think your allowed one mis-ID every ten years or so ;-) haha jk

No I would definitely not put either of those fish with a fuzzy

Agreed...I just looked at the pic again, and now I realize that what I thought was something on the tank is actually the fish's esca, and it's the esca of a hispid.

hi guys, i took this pic the orher day in "irelands leading LFS". It's supposed to be a red scorpion fish. Nowhere near red, so i asked the guy how long do they have him
In , he says 4 weeks. I told him i seen onother one that wasnt eating anything for awhile and turned the same color, he replied : he's there for 4 weeks so he must be eating. And the next second he was gone, left me staring at the tank.

Hispidus and fuzzy dwarf NOT a good combination. I was looking at a green worm in the tank when the hispidus took the fuzzy from one bite, head first in. I can still see him moving inside :(( lesson learned. I dont think the hispidus will make it too, as the fuzzy was nearly same size as him and i fed him two silrvers sunday afternoon. :((

Unfortunately, you witnessed the reason most folks recommend anglers in a species/specimen setup. Hope the angler makes it.

This is how the hispidus looked after his most expensive meal :( He looks ok now, and i had to pick up a lot of crap from the tank, it was everywhere...
