Hey guys! Got this little guy over the weekend and no one seems to know what he is. Any ideas?

It looks like a clarkii minus the coloring. I've never seen a clarkii like this. It's maroon. And don't clarkiis have a yellow tail?! Gotta be a hybrid of some sorts lol

Looks like a juvenile rubrocinctus.

if the pelvic fins are as black as they appear in the picture, i would wager you have a juvenile a. melanopus.

tomato complex juveniles all start with stripes but lose all but the head stripe as they mature.

They are jet black! Again, I guess I'll see when he matures! I would like to get him a mate, but I have to make sure its the same species
