Any reason why u guys r so concern about this gap/ the clam is healthy and thriving it just has a hole bgger than others LOL. I've been researching this and nothing comes up regarding this issue.
it's not just about the size of the incurrent siphon, more the way the mantle has started to pull into the shell. gapping refers to the loss of control of the abductor muscle. this allows the shell to open much wider than it should and the mantle starts to receed to inside the edge of the shell.
gasman, they are correct. In my experience you clam is showing more than 1 very unhealthy signs. It would be in your best interest to identify the problem before it goes to that big aquarium in the sky.
