Hi,

My friend gave me this anenome and had no clue what kind it is. Does anyone know? I have been doing research to try and find out, but I have not had any luck.

thanks for the replies, what do I do with it? It is the first one I have. I tried to feed it and it won't take anything.

Well, I finally got him to eat a piece of krill. It took me a good 20 mins, but he finally took it. Yeaaa!

That's good that it accepted food. Now the trick is to get your BTA to start accepting food on a regular basis. You need to be feeding your BTA small pieces of lancefish, shrimp, krill or silversides about once a day if you want your BTA to make a quick, full recovery.

Keep us updated.

An upgrade in lighting might be in your future if you want to nurse this anemone back to health.

Congrats on feeding it. Make sure to feed it small pieces to give it an easier time digesting.

Thanks, The first piece after it was stuck to him and he was trying to eat it. I was thinking to myself it was too big. Then he lost it, but as it was floating away I could see where he had starting "chewing" it. So I cut a smaller piece and gave it to him. I will continue to try and feed him a small piece once a day.

I just have one more question. If he is in an area of the tank where it kind of has a shadow, won't he move closer to the light or to a spot more lighted?

Hey may, but he looks like he's in pretty rough shape right now. He might just need to stay where is for a while.

Don't move him, though...that will just stress him out more. For the most part (unless they end up in a powerhead intake) they know what's best for themselves. Keep trying to feed him, and hopefully he'll get some strength, move out into the light, and in a couple months you'll be able to tell that his zooxanthellae is returning!

Keep us posted, and don't be afraid to ask questions.
