what the heck is this? it looks like some sort of slug or something, but it has a shell on the top. when i tried to pick it up out of the tank with tongs it broke in two, the front part with the shell, and the back part which looked like snail "meat." the meat about doubled the length of it...it was probably close to an inch long. its not like any snail i've seen. is it good or bad?

They eat algae and are beneficial... Nothing to worry about...
