IT DOESNT REALLY OPEN AND CLOSE THOUGH JUST THE MOUTH IN THE CENTER THE REST OF ITS HARD LIKE A ROCK

I have mine on a flat piece or rock right now, but am going to bury it in the sand. Just got mine also, and not sure how to place it. I just know its suppose to be on the sandbed because it doesn't like a lot of light.

How long have you had it? How much light and flow are you giving it? It looks like it has some bleaching starting on the right side. The tissue has shrunk down to the skeleton.Here is the one i had,looked like yours towards the end.

Cove are you suppose to bury the hard part in the sand? I have mine under 250w halide, just got it Friday from Phishy

I just set it on the sand, in low to medium flow. If its new you might want to give it shade depending on the previous lighting. The reason i lost mine was my pair of clowns loved it to death. Was one of my favorites, also my avatar.

i can set it in the sand no problem but can it handle having substrate on it i have a neon sand sifting goby and anything i put in the sand he spits substrate on it

It will die if the sand dont get removed from it because it cant remove it on its own.It should be placed on the sand
