I would say its orangeish brown about the size of a pencil and i have seen its longer then 6 inches no idea by how much..It seems to stay inside the rock, seen it with lights on and off

I dont know, but i dont trust it. Get it out of there i say. Looks like something that may prey upon a sleeping fish or maybe coral (ive seen a picture of a similar worm that was identified as a soft coral eating worm).

I dont mean to sound like someone who says "just kill it", but i value your fish and coral over that thing. Plus, i REALLY dont like how that thing looks..... has a very predatorial look. And if you do get rid of it, be sure you pull out the whole thing, dont leave any section that might possibly regrow (some worms can do that).

I havent added anything to the tank in a while so its been there for some time i would have to guess.I have never seen it anywhere it sticking out of that hole even pods are seen in the hole with it. Ill remove it if i have to but if its harmless he can stay.

I have no idea what it is. But I had a cute little crab once, he got about 3-4" and had claws like a blue claw crab. He wiped out all my snails and cleaner shrimp before I finaly cought him. I'm not saying that will happen to you, but I would definetly find out what it is before you decide to leave it in there.

With those tentacles, it looks like a eunicid worm. Maybe ask in the invertabrate forum. I'm at least bringing you back up to the top of the page.
