ID? Slug-like creature on my candy cane. Are they harmful? I had to reglue this fragment that fell off and I found these critters. I saw 3 and I cut them off with blade. Then I put the coral back in my tank. I also peeled off the pink growth in the crotch of the branch that I thought might have been sponge (?).

It's hard to tell from the photo but it could be a Stomatella snail. Does it have a partial hard shell on it's back? Stomatellas are harmless.

Partial hard shell? -- Hard to tell. It felt firm, but soft to me. It was very adherent to the coral skeleton, but I did not see it on the living flesh of the coral. Thanks for your response.

Anything like this ? A differant color but sounds like you are describing the same thing. Mine ONLY came out in the middle of the night well after the lights were out and I was told there were Stomatella snails.

Maybe. They felt like a very firm, but slimy, slug or worm. At least no one is yelling, "danger! Get 'em out"!
