ID the Mystery Fish

So we came home from a weekend away and while we were checking the tanks when we got home Chris exclaimed "What the heck is that fish?!? I've never seen it before it our tank!" I'm thinking that there is no way that there is a fish in our tank that we don't know of, so I tell him I will look for it in a bit. Sure enough, there is this black blenny/goby looking fish that is living in our tank.

Neither of us are sure where it came from, much less what it is. So if anyone knows, please let us know.

All of our rock came as dry rock that we collected in Hawai'i or as dead rock from other people. We don't really trust live rock from other people because we have so many tangs and we are paranoid about ich.

I checked liveaquaria, but it doesn't really look like any of their fish. It looks more like a black starry blenny.

I received a hitchhiker blenny from some florida live rock I purchased, mine is much darker than the picture in the link below, but has the same body shape.

But that is extremely weird if all your rock started as dry rock.

They can hitch hike in anything wet, once had a fire fish that we thought had been gone appear after we drained a biocube and moved it to another room. Must of been hiding in one of the back chambers...

Interesting thing is last night was the first time we have ever seen it. And nothing has been added to the tank that he even could have come in on in MONTHS like more than six. If he came from Jeff and Anne then has been there since Feb.

Nope. Not unless it is a half breed with something else. We have 5 engineers I think in the 300 and I saw this guy at the entrance to one of there holes though. I think it may be a Starry Blenny but it dosent look like any starry Blenny I have seen before. The only place i really think it could have came from is Jeff and Anne 8 months ago. But where has he been the whole time.
