Id this arrow crab inside

I added a pic and made some observations. The claws and outer digits of the legs each have a row of feather-like hairs that catch debris. Then the crab picks it off and eats it.

The crab has been picking through algae all day and appears to be an algae eater. I fed plankton and it didnt even bother moving. They were only $7, so I might go get another one or two tomorrow and see if they get along. A very interesting species.

This isn't the same thing, but do a web image search for Lambrachaeus ramifer. It's kinda similar. Might be in the same family. the length ratio of the arms is wrong for Achaeus - but again, might be the same family.

ah, the joys of photo identifications...lol

am learning though...details...details... Had ruled out another type due to its claw arm lengths, figured the Achaeus family was a good start though. Love the challenge though...lol

I think that Achaeus spinosus is a pretty good match...Thanks! The only thing is that this crab doesnt seem to be 'desorating' itself, nor were any of the other 6+ that were at the LFS. Maybe that will change over time and it just lost its 'decor' in transport.

The other cool thing is that I think that the second photo down on this page is the 'frilly' one I also used to see...

So what do you guys think...can 2 or 3 co habitate a 20L? I might just pick two more up and see for myself. It seems like a more docile/fragile alternative to a decorator or arrow crab.

If these hold true to "arrow" crab manners, I would say they would not get along, even amongst same species. Would be risky, but then what isnt with this hobby...lol

expertise, thats a heck of a compliment (we're not worthy! we're not worthy!), Thanks, have tried to join local forums, but do not understand the language.

Well, I thought I would add a long term update. I bought 2 more, and shortly after upgraded these guys to a 40B. They are all still in there, no fighting or anything really. Unlike the more common arrow crabs we see, these guys have small claws, more like fire shrimp, and dont really bother fighting with each other. They dont even bother anything else... they spend all day picking at the rocks like cleaner shrimp. Great tenants! They dont bother fish or other things in the tank even.
