My first thought would be corynactis or psudocorynactis as suggested by another poster in the original thread. These are part of the mushroom (can't spell the big name for it but it's something like coralimorphian - there's a forum for it here) family, even though they look very anemone like. They come in different sizes and colors, but most have the characteristic ball tips.

I have a few corynactis (I think that's the small one) in both of my tanks and it doesn't cause any problems, they appear to be non-photosynthetic as well.

I could be wrong, but it might be a good place to start a search.
