ID this Flowerpot?

calk me Q

New member
A new expensive species that is preached by someone here in chinese market as "easy care, easy reproduce" . He even announced that his one has reproduced from 30 heads to 100 heads....Unbelievable. However am i too stupid to distinguish it from any common seen red-morph flowerpot coral?

Need your help to save me!!!
Sorry for the rubbish resolution.

I think you answered your question as it being a red gonipora. Not a lot to differentiate gonis of siloam growth patterns imo other than colors and yours seems to be red =).. There are a few vendors with "named" variants here in the states but you/it being on the other side of the world it's red just as it was here until someone slapped a name on it and cut it up.

Right. I see them for sale frequently although I am not a big fan.

Yes, so i got this information that this is just a red morph of Gonipora that is still difficult to keep in captivity right? So no difference on its surival from his common-seen green morph ones, right?

I just feel the guy sells it as being preaching too much or lying because he label this one "easy to care for and easy to reproduce like zoa"

I personally find them easy to care for and have over a dozen different colonies. One for almost three years. Stable water conditions, good flow, good light, and daily feedings have helped my success.

Really? Is it really sustainable in the capativity? It is nice to hear that as in mine mind all gonipora corals are doomed if in captivity. Seems i need a change in my mind

Oh definitely great in captivity. Many are having success with gonipora. Wall hammers, meat corals, etc are the ones that should remain in the sea lol.
