I seems very timid but I have naoko fairy wrasse and peppermint hogfish with it in the sump

Not Hawaiian endemic; quite widespread through the Indo-Pacific, including Hawaii. But the females are red/pink with a little yellow on the head. I think you're thinking of the right one...
