ID worm thing help

I took a large piece of rock out of my display tank and it is sitting in a 15 in my basement to "cure" wating for a new tank. Last night I saw this tube/worm like thing sticking out.

It is a little bit thinner then a pencil and it extends between 1/4 inch to over 8 inches. I didn't see anything that looked like a head on the end but I am pretty sure it is a coming out to feed. It looked kind of leathery and was tan and brown splotchy striped. Light and motion sesitive so I am not sure I can get a photo.

I am wondering if it is a type of tube worm or if it is possibly a mollusk with a long feeding tube. Any clues?

P.s. Last year I tried to use that rock to hold a bunch of frags and every morning I would find them all knocked off on to the sand. Now I know why :-)

Sounds a lot like a Peanut Worm. Does it unroll itself inside out when it stretches for food?

Thats definitely what it is. I am glad to know biologists aren't sure if it is more of a worm or a molusk either :) It has burrowed deep into the rock and I am not sure I can get it out. I hope it survives a few weeks of rock cooking.

Thanks.
