Hello, what is the ideal salinity for a S. Gigantea? My tank is currently at 1.027. I have only had the carpet for 4 days so I really haven't noticed anything to indicate 1.027 is too high but the nems mouth has been open off and on since I have had him. Thanks for any input.

Salinity is fine , did you aclimate to your tank what was the water is the shipping bag like. The mouth should be closed. Also aclimate to your tanks lighting.
Toddrex will chime in soon he is a big help.

Yes drip acclimated for 3 hours on Wednesday. The LFS water was 1.026 Wednesday, today 1.025 (yeah I called and asked, lol). I agree that the mouth should be closed. It does not appear to be gaping or overly loose and the only discharge has been brown. I attached a photo of the mouth open, it has gotten wider at times.

I did not acclimate to tank lighting.

I keep all of my anemones (( currently only have S. Haddonis )) at 1.026/35PPT.

What lights do you have? What lights was it under?
I have always acclimated my new anemones to my lights. I usually use 3 layers of window screening (( supported by egg crate )) b/t the tank and the lights. I then remove one layer every 5-7 days.

Thanks for the tips everybody.

Outer Orbit 2 x 150W HQI with lunar lights, running 2 10K compact flo and 2 actnic with two 20K MH.

At the LFS it was under two MH pendant bulbs and what appeared to be two actnic strip bulbs.

I keep mine at 1.026 but it occasionally creeps up to 1.028 due to evaporation.

I never acclimated my Gig to my lights. Just full blast from Day 1.
