Ideas on what type of Tunze to use?

Well I am building a new wood tank and looking at different options for using Tunze for flow. The tank is like 3 Tanks put together the 36 side will have more sps and 30 will have more mixture of lps and the 24 side will have a lot of the soft stuff. There will be external overflows on all three back sides and will use 2-3 hammerheads for return and utility pumps. I have a ACIII coming with both a DC 8 and 4. So what are some options and how many controllers would you need and what and how many units would U use?

Sounds like a neat set up. I would use 2 6200's on the SPS side, a center mounted 6000 on the LPS side and 2 6100's on the soft coral side. place the 6100/6200 in the corners on each side and the 30" section will get a portion of that flow as a result.

I love my tunze!!! THey are awsome, and last forever. Every little part that could possible wear can be replaced over time very inexpensivily. I would say go for it!!!!

I could not tell what your total tank volume is in gallons. Mine is 75 and I have about 4000 GPH of flow.

Roger I just ordered the setup but I ordered 4 6100 and 2 6200 just in case I wanted to mix the LPS and soft stuff. I also ordered a wave box and 1 extension for it I was wondering if they would work on the 2 ends. Will I be able to control the size of wave easy?

I don't think the wavebox will work, I would return that. Otherwise I think your plan is fine.

It only works in rectangular tanks, it works on the principal of resonance and so the odd shape of your tank will interfere with the resonance frequency and the wave energy will not build.

Ok now you made me look some of this up and now have more questions what do you think would happen if I put one on both ends of the middle section? in theory that is a rectangular tank? I am still getting them and will try them out and if they don't wok I will use them in the 240 if they do work I may be able to sell my wife on getting them for the 240 so I guess I win either way.

LOL, you would just have to try it but I suspect on the ends where it opens to the side displays the wave energy will be lost and no wave will build.

Of course when I get them you can come over here and show me how to use them and also talk to our club as we have some people that think the penductors put out more flow then the Tunze. That way you could say you have visited the state of the real UT Univ of Tenn VOLS.

I have family in TN and it sounds pretty. I believe it is only about a 14hr drive? Not sure, I know New Orleans is 8 but I am sure I would head up through Arkansas and save some time that way. It might be possible as I was hoping to go to South Carolina in May as I got an invitation to tour the Park Seed Company.

Being that the tank is so large, you would need a wavebox and at least one extension. With an extension, I could see a wavebox working on that tank. If you put both boxes at the ends of the tank... so their combined wave would be aimed at the 30" wide section... I bet you could get some waves going...

Hi Roger,
I have been helping my brother with his tank and he wanted me to let you know that the waveboxes do work. We put them at the one end of the tank and WOW. Creates a 4-5 inch wave throughout the tank, even on the complete opposite side. Way cool.

In the diagram, the side of 36" spaced about 14" apart and on the same controller. It shoots the waves down the 36" around the corner and continues all the way around.

Roger you have to come by next time you are in maybe we can get the club here when you are here and talk about all the tunze product as I will be using more I may not need all the pumps that I thought with the wave boxes. Or I may have to figure the controllers to set a time for the waves to stop so that the fish get a break. Of course I may try to get a rock formation to create a surf.

BTW here is a link to my daughters RFL team if anyone is interested.
